Reality outruns apprehension ! Its skull is only 25mm, so it isn't going to tear your throat out, but it does feed entirely on blood, and it might give you rabies. The two big top incisors are said to be so sharp that a vampire can make an incision without waking a sleeping animal (or person !) |

Scientific Name : Desmodus - from the greek words desmos a bundle, and odontos, a tooth, referring to the closely grouped two central upper incisors. Many bats have a wide gap between their central upper incisors. rotundus - the animal has a rounded body.
